Developing Sustainability – This year’s annual conference took place between 10. and 13. September 2013 in Surabaya, Indonesia. Representatives of all partner institutions of the network used the opportunity to intensify joint research and teaching initiatives and discuss mobility schemes for Young and Senior Scientists.
The University of Oldenburg was represented by project representative Bernd Siebenhüner, keynote speaker Michael Golba (Blurring borders within International Postgraduate Study Programmes. The example of international Renewable Energy Postgraduate Courses and a future outlook) and young scientist Leena Karrasch (Cross-sectoral decision making in coastal land use planning: How applicable is the ecosystem service approach?).
We would like to thank all participants for the fruitful and interesting inputs, presentations and field excursions. We are looking forward to an ongoing exchange and following-up programs!
(Since 2009 researchers, lecturers and students from six partner universities from South Africa, Tanzania, Mexico, Indonesia, Cuba and Germany collaborate within the network Developing Sustainability, coordinated by the Center for Environment and Sustainability Research COAST at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. Based on an integrated approach towards its core themes “Renewable Energy”, “Biodiversity, Land Use, Marine and Coastal Management”, and “Sustainable Enterprise & Environmental Management Information Systems”, the network develops thematic interlinkages and facilitates the exchange of experiences, knowledge and concepts in research and teaching in accordance with the MDG 7 goal of environmental sustainability.)
